The Preeceville Harvard 606 air cadet marksmanship team earned a spot at provincials after it placed first at the zone competition held in Yorkton on February 20.

In the Prince Albert ebent on April 1 to 3, the team placed seventh overall out of 12 teams from across the province at the marksmanship champions. Team members were: Morgan McLean, Braden Mclean, Cole Bilanchuk, Corianne Metherell and Eric Prestie. Captain Troy Rogowski, accompanied the team.

In the open category, Bilanchuk placed seventh and Metherell placed 16th out of 59 competitors.

In the junior category there was a total of 30 competitors. Prestie placed 16th, Morgan McLean placed 19th and Braden McLean placed 22nd.

"I am extremely impressed with the entire team," said Rogowski. "Each of the members shot his or her personal best during the competition and should be very proud of their accomplishments.”

The marksmanship team worked hard all season with regular practices that improved their aim.

The cadet squadron has had a busy season with weekly drills, classroom instructional time and fun events. In February, they travelled to Camp Sask. Cadet, accompanied by Melville and Indian Head squadrons for a fun-filled weekend.

"Now, is a quiet time in the schedule for the most part but we are gearing up for our annual review ceremony and summer camp announcements. We are scheduled to have our year end camp once again at Lady Lake Regional Park."
