The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 64 calls for service from July 2 to July 9, some of which included: 22 traffic offenses, 10 provincial statutes, four traffic accidents, eight Mental Health Act offenses, three break and enters, four frauds, nine

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 64 calls for service from July 2 to July 9, some of which included: 22 traffic offenses, 10 provincial statutes, four traffic accidents, eight Mental Health Act offenses, three break and enters, four frauds, nine mischiefs, three thefts, one uttering threats and one impaired driver.

Rama break and enter

On July 3 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a break and enter at the Rama Co-op. A storage unit was broken into sometime in the previous week and some tires had been stolen.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a break and enter in Sturgis. A shed was broken into between November 2019 and June 5, 2020 and a 55cc Stihl chainsaw with an 18-inch bar was stolen, along with two jerry cans of gas, a three ball hitch, and a propane tank.

Highway mischief

On July 4 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an incident of mischief on Highway No. 5 near Mikado. A yellow 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass had broken down on the side of the highway and when the owner returned for their vehicle all the windows were smashed out of it.

Canora bar fracas

On the night of July 4 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to several bar fights at a local bar in Canora. RCMP attended and the aggressors in the fight fled the scene. Members were called back again later in the evening to more fights taking place. RCMP were able to attend and placed two intoxicated subjects under arrest. The subjects were lodged in RCMP cells until they were sober.

ATV complaints

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received several complaints this week surrounding proper ATV use.  The RCMP needs to remind the public that a helmet must be worn at all times when operating an ATV or motorbike in public.

Splash park disturbance

On July 8 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an intoxicated female near the Chase Kraynick Memorial Community Splash Park in Canora. The female was having trouble walking and keeping her balance. Members responded but were not able to locate the subject in the area.

Attempted vehicle break-ins

On July 8 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a suspicious person attempting to break into multiple vehicles on Second Avenue West in Canora. RCMP members attended but prior to their arriving on scene the suspect was picked up by another vehicle and departed the area. Multiple neighbours checked their vehicles but nothing appeared to be missing.
