RCMP Report
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a tractor fire in the RM of Invermay on August 18. The fire was not deemed suspicious and was extinguished by the Invermay Fire Department.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 40 calls for service over the week of August 13 to 19, some of which included 15 traffic offenses, seven provincial statutes, one assault, two mischiefs, two impaired drivers, two possession of drugs, and one break and enter.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP would like to advise the public that effective September 3, Canora Court matters will be temporarily moved to Yorkton Provincial Court until further notice due to COVID restrictions. 

Damage to signs

On August 14 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that signs advertising gravel for sale were damaged in the RM of Preeceville. Several signs were knocked down and broken.

Boat motor stolen

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a 4.5 HP Johnson boat motor stolen from Burgis Beach on August 15.

Canora missing person

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a missing person complaint for an adult male from Canora on August 14. He did not tell his girlfriend were he was going and turned his cell phone off.  The Canora RCMP managed to track the male down near Estevan. He had decided to visit a friend without telling his girlfriend. Someone could be in trouble when he gets home.

Canora fight

A complaint of five people fighting in a residence in Canora was received by the Canora/Sturgis RCMP on August 15. The RCMP attempted to get everyone to go home but when that was not successful, two adult females were arrested and spent the night in Canora RCMP cells.  The females were released once they were sober.

Large party complaint

On August 16 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a large party at Good Spirit Acres. RCMP attended and shut down the party, and located a residence were windows had been smashed out. RCMP were able to locate and arrest the subject responsible for breaking the windows. The male will face criminal charges in court for his actions.

Single vehicle rollover

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway No. 9 near Tadmore on August 16. RCMP located the female youth driver who was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for impaired driving and will now face charges in court. She was released to a sober parent.

Drugs found

A complaint of a bag of drugs being found near a residence on Main Street in Canora was received by the Canora/Sturgis RCMP on August 16. The drugs were disposed of and no one was harmed. The RCMP would like to remind the public if they locate anything they believe to be drugs to contact the RCMP immediately and not to touch them as contact could be very harmful.

Tractor fire

On August 18 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a tractor fire in the RM of Invermay. The fire was not deemed suspicious and was extinguished by the Invermay Fire Department.

Stolen bike

On August 18 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that a light blue super cycle bike with white lettering (female bike) was stolen from outside the hockey rink in Canora.

Speeding trucks

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint from the RM of Invermay concerning heavy trucks and grain trucks failing to obey speed limits on Highway No. 745 north of Rama on August 19. The majority of the trucks in question were travelling to the Rama Feed Mill.  The Canora/Sturgis RCMP will have an increased presence in the area over the next few weeks running radar and issuing tickets.
