Families were encouraged during the month of February to spend quality time together in a program sponsored by the Family Resource Centre as a fun way for families to participate in an activity challenge contest.

The contest ran from February 17 to February 26.

"This was a simple way to encourage families to spend some time together," said Karolyn Kosheluk, Family Resource Centre co-ordinator. "Our definition of the word family is a broad definition. It is whomever you spend time with.”

Families were required to complete one of the eligible activities and enter their names to win a prize, she said.

Some of the activities were literacy-based that featured a family game night or the writing of letters. Other activities were more physically based that featured skating or sliding.

Families entered in the contest were eligible to win one of four prizes that were donated by Gateway Co-op and Preeceville Shop Easy. Karolyn Kosheluk presented the winners with prizes on March 9.

Winning names were drawn in a random draw out of all the entries submitted.

Amrie Seerey and her siblings, tobogganed, skied, made art and read a book.

Shaye Burym and her brother Connor read books. Brenda and Brian Yates went ice fishing and Leah Thideman went snowmobiling.
