Those who hunted or harvested animals are being asked to complete a Hunter Harvest Survey by the Ministry of Environment.

Saskatchewan hunters have opportunity to complete a new survey to help manage game species in Saskatchewan.

If you purchased a hunting licence this year, the Ministry of Environment is asking you to complete a Hunter Harvest Survey online or in person, said a release from the Government of Saskatchewan. These surveys are used to help manage game species in Saskatchewan.

“Each year, the ministry’s wildlife biologists review this data to determine how well current management strategies, such as quotas and season dates are working, and identify areas where different management strategies may be warranted,” said Katherine Conkin, a habitat and populations ecologist with the Ministry of Environment. “The more surveys completed, the more thorough this evaluation can be. Additionally, each survey provides hunters the opportunity to identify how populations are doing in their hunting areas.”

Each survey takes less than two minutes and can be completed until January 31. Those who wish to take a survey may sign on at https://saskatchewanlicences.active.com/licensing.page and click the Hunter Harvest Survey tab on the left-hand side of the page. Hunters may also complete the survey in person at any Ministry of Environment office.

Those who need help completing the survey may contact the Active Network Outdoors Help Desk. As an added incentive, all hunters who complete their hunter harvest survey will be eligible for one of six $100 gift certificates courtesy of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation.

More information and summarized results of previous surveys can be found on the Government of Saskatchewan website or in the Saskatchewan Hunters’ and Trappers’ Guide. The Government of Saskatchewan acknowledges all those who have completed their Hunter Harvest Surveys for the 2016 season.
