The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 57 calls during the week of April 22 to April 29, some of which included: 12 provincial traffic offenses, one impaired operation, one traffic accident, 13 other provincial statutes, two harassments/threats, two assaults, three mischiefs and 13 other incidents.

Graffiti continues

On April 22, Canora Detachment received a complaint from the town of Canora that more graffiti had been added to the wall of the Skating Rink. Graffiti was also reported on the Dennis Foods building. Mikado vehicle fire

Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted the Canora Fire Department on April 23 with a vehicle fire in Mikado. The fire department extinguished the fire which is not considered suspicious.

Impaired motorist

Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of a stranded motorist on Highway No. 5 by Canora on April 24. Police attended and found the driver of the vehicle showing signs of impairment.  Police initiated an investigation and subsequently issued a 72-hour roadside suspension to the driver.

Residential commotion

On April 25, Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a disturbance at a residence in Sturgis. Police attended and kept the peace while the occupants of the home ironed out their differences.

Tire mischief

Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a mischief complaint on April 26 to property in Canora.  Police attended and learned the complainant’s tires had been slashed. Police continue to investigate.

Dirt bike collision

Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a dirt bike collision by Preeceville on April 28.  The young driver of the dirt bike was taken to hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
