The Canora/ Sturgis RCMP responded to 50 calls for service over the past week, some of which included 13 traffic offences, five mischiefs, two traffic collisions, two assaults, one impaired driving offence, one uttering threats, and one theft of vehicle.

On April 16 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were notified of a vacant residence in Canora where the doors had been left open. RCMP members attended and cleared the residence and found nothing out of the ordinary. Members notified the owner of the residence who did not know why the doors were open.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP have been receiving several calls about various people and businesses running raffles in order to make money. The Canora/Sturgis RCMP would like to remind the public that all non-profit organizations or individuals are required to obtain a permit from Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming in order to sell raffle tickets for a draw as this is considered a form of gambling. If anyone has any questions about this, please contact the RCMP for clarification.

On April 17 an Apple iPad was found and turned in to the Canora/Sturgis RCMP. The RCMP were able to identify the original owner of the iPad and have it safely returned. The owner was very grateful to have the iPad returned.

On April 20 the Canora/ Sturgis RCMP responded to several complaints in Canora of an adult male running down the street naked. The adult male was under the influence of intoxicating substances and was arrested without incident. The male was taken to the hospital where he received the treatment he required until the substances were out of his system. No one from the public was harmed during this incident.

On April 20 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a theft complaint at a local general and grocery store in Canora. The RCMP located and arrested two adult females for stealing property from the store. All items were returned safely to the store and the two adult females were both charged with theft and will be appearing in Canora court.

On April 21, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a black enclosed Continental tandem axle trailer was stolen from a residence in Rama, SK. The trailer was hooked onto by a large black truck that was believed to be driven by two unknown occupants. The trailer is described as a 24 ft.-long tandem axle Continental trailer with a ramp back door. The trailer was bearing Saskatchewan licence plate #750LNL and has VIN # 51HUTWZ20ET622083. No photos of the trailer are available at this time. The investigation is ongoing. We will provide further updates when they become available. On April 22 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of an intoxicated adult male refusing to leave a residence in Canora. The male got upset and smashed the home owner’s TV before departing the residence. The adult male was located and arrested by RCMP and lodged in cells. This complaint is still under investigation.
