Etomamie Riders acknowledged in horse club awards day

The Etomamie Valley Riders Club hosted is annual awards supper at the READ Club in Sturgis on January 22. Jacquie Olson, president of the club, was the master of ceremonies for the awards. Four seasons catering by Sharon Draper catered the meal.

            Olson acknowledged the club members for their dedication, the executive, the Reynolds family and Steve Toderash for keeping the grounds mowed, weeds sprayed and the arena harrowed.

            "We have a special award tonight, a lifetime membership certificate to Steven and Loretta Toderash for their contributions and years of service to the club," she said.

            Awards were given out in three categories, weepees, juniors and seniors in each of the three events: poles, barrels and games. There was also an award for high-points winner and fastest barrel and pole time.

            In the weepee category, barrels, Jesse Beatty won first; Alex Neilson, second; and Keenan Walker, third. In the poles category, Tristen Beaty was first; Alex Neilson, second; and Matthew Keenan Walker, third. In the games category, Jade Beatty won first; Alex Neilson, second; and Matthew Keenan Walker, third.

            In the junior category, Lexie Young won the barrels, poles and games events.

            In the senior category in all three categories (barrels, poles and games) Danny Palaniuk won first; Levi Young, second; and Liesa Nielson, third.

            Rachelle Johannesson won the award for the fastest barrels with a time of 17.47 seconds. Lexi Young was the high-points winner. Danny Palaniuk won fastest poles with a time of 26.976 seconds.

            A special appreciation certificate was presented to Steve and Loretta Toderash for their years of dedicated service.

            Braydon and Matthew Primeau and Savannah and Jaxon Neilson were presented with special gifts for participation.
