The Studio Dance One club members presented their annual spring recital to the theme “Everybody Dance Now” at the Sturgis Composite High School on April 24. Jessica Welder was the dance instructor, with student instructors being: Alexis Bodnar, Kirsten Murray and Hannah Gerbrandt.
Laura Sliva was the mistress of ceremonies for the afternoon.
A slideshow featuring the dancers and their year in review kicked off the recital.
A teacher performance featuring Jessica Welder, instructor, along with Alexis Bodnar, Kirsten Murray and Hannah Gerbrandt followed the slide presentation.
Claire Masko, Peyton Lisoway, Bryanna Hartl, Mackenna Firman, Macey Mitchell, Kacey Heskin and Chloe Bourassa performed a jazz dance to Groovin’.
Jillian Newton performed the first ballet solo.
Addison Danielson, Alexis Firman, Camryn Nelson, Emerson Strykowski and Paje Reynolds presented a tap performance to C’est La Vie.
Cindy Singkala, Janhea Irlandez and Ellian Redoblado performed to Jump.
Kiera Balyski, Chloe Erickson, Kourtney Gregory, Mia Mitchell and Katryna Englot performed a jazz routine to the music of the Spice Girls.
Riely Turchinetz, Natalie Gregory, Jainylle Gagnon and Myrandah Gagnon tap danced to I’m Blue.
Kirsten Murray, Morgan Mitchell, Emily Prestie, Hannah Gerbrandt, Alexis Bodnar, Olivia Chornomitz and Rowan Prestie danced a jazz number to Candyman.
Gabby Murray, Hallie Petryshyn, Alexis Forman and Addison Danielson performed to Party Girls.
Emerson Strykowski performed a jazz solo.
Saphira Anaka, Maggie Bartel and Jenna Anaka performed a tap dance to Achey Breaky Heart and a ballet performance to Walkin’ on the Sun.
Grace-Lynn Peters, Elissa Karcha, Rebecca Karcha and Madisyn Pole performed a creative movement number.
Mia Mitchell, Jillian Newton, Chloe Chornomitz, Katryna Englot and Kiera Balyski performed a tap routine to The Power.
Karley Buchinski, Carley-Rae Walker, King Sheperd and Danyka Sheperd performed a hip hop dance.
Alexis Bodnar performed a contemporary solo performance.
Morgan Mitchell, Emily Prestie, Kirsten Murray and Olivia Chornomitz performed a tap number to Cotton-Eyed Joe.
Kamryn Burnett of Allan was the guest dancer.
Hannah Gerbrandt performed a lyrical solo.
Paje Reynolds, Gabby Murray, Jillian Newton, Kiera Balyski, Addison Danielson and Emerson Strykowski performed a ballet number to Mmmbop.
Dexter Penner, Trenley Nelson, Claire Masko, Bryanna Hartl and Peyton Lisoway performed a tap routine to Mickey’s Mambo.
Katie Chernyk and Farrah Howard performed a hip hop duet.
Riely Turchinetz, Anne Dela-Cruz and Aliya Redoblado performed a jazz number to Saturday Night.
Morgan Mitchell, Emily Prestie, Hannah Gerbrandt, Alexis Bodnar and Kirsten Murray danced a ballet to Just a Girl.
Awards were presented at the conclusion of the recital.
Addison Danielson received a positivity award.
Jenna Anaka received a congeniality award.
Saphira Anaka and Gabby Murray each received a most-improved award.
Emily Prestie received a the most promising and all-round dancer awards. She also received a scholarship for one dance of her choice for the next dance session. Her name was added to the club’s plaque and she also received a plaque to take home.
There were 17 perfect-attendance awards presented to dancers.
