Gymkhana events featured during Preeceville Western Weekend

The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club allowed avid horse riders to showcase their skills at various events during gymkhana, which was part of the Preeceville Lions western weekend on July 14 and 15. Jen Hue was the announcer for the two-day event.

Jen Hue was the announcer for the two-day event. Adrianna Walker recorded the results. Events held over the two days featured barrels, poles, keyhole and speed barrels.

In the weepee barrels on Saturday, Blake Hedin of St. Brieux won first place; Emma Young of Weekes won second place and Ella Sywenky of Hudson Bay won third place. On Sunday, Hedin won first place, Kaisley Hrabarchuk of Benito won second place and Young won third place. The two-day high point winner was Hedin.

In the weepee poles on Saturday, Blake Hedin won first place, Ella Sywenky won second and Aislyn Hedin of St. Brieux won third place. On Sunday, Hedin won first, Sywenky took second and Kaisley Hrabarchuk finished third. The two-day high point winner was Hedin.

In the weepee games, keyhole on Saturday, Blake Hedin won first place, Ella Sywenky won second and Emma Young won third place. On Sunday, speed barrels, Hedin won first place, Kaisley Hrabarchuk placed second and Sywenky finished third. The two-day high point winner was Hedin.

Other riders in the weepee event included: Savannah Neilson, Preeceville; Thea Young, Weekes; Reed Gallaway, Swan River and Arianna Neilson, Preeceville.

In the peewee barrels on Saturday, Wyatt Hue of Hudson Bay won first, Mercedes Salmond of Tisdale took second and Maccoy Galloway of Swan River finished third. On Sunday, Kreece Hrabarchuk of Benito won first, Maccoy Galloway of Swan River placed second and Keara Yanke finished third. Maccoy Galloway was the two-day high point winner.

In the peewee poles on Saturday, Wyatt Hue won first place, Maccoy Galloway won second and Mercedes Salmond won third. On Sunday, Kreece Hrabarchuk placed first, Keara Yanke placed second and Mercedes Salmond placed third. Maccoy Galloway was the two-day overall winner.

Other riders in the peewee category were, Danielle Paul, and Alex Neilson, both of Preeceville; Zoe McLean, Big River; Savannah Nordmarken, Raia Sywenky and Austin Sywenky, all of Hudson Bay and Jacelynn Hue, Edmonton.

In the junior barrels on Saturday, Shayanne Hue of Hudson Bay won first place; Brooke Boychuk of Hudson Bay placed second and Rashue Hue of Hudson Bay won third place.  On Sunday, Boychuk won first place and Abby Black of Minitonas won second place. There was no third place winner. The two-day high point winner was Boychuk.

In the junior poles on Saturday, Boychuk won first place, Shayanne Hue won second place and Rashae Hie won third place. On Sunday, Abby Black won first place and Boychuk took second, with no third place finisher. The two-day high point winner was Boychuk.

In the junior games event on Saturday and Sunday, Adrian Byman of Wadena won first place and Jessenta Woloshyn of Kelleher won second place on both days. Byman was the two-day overall winner.

Brooke Boychuk was the other rider in the junior event.

In the senior barrel’s event on Saturday, Jodi Suchoplas of Benito won first and second on two different horses and Lexi Young of Preeceville took third place. On Sunday, Suchoplas won first and third on two different horses while Lexi Young took second. Suchoplas was the two-day high point winner.

In senior poles, on Saturday, Suchoplas won first place and second on two different horses and Lexi Young finished third. On Sunday, Suchoplas won first and second place and Lexi Young took third. Suchoplas was the two-day high point winner.

In the senior games on Saturday, Lexi Young won first place, Jessica Malisheski of Foam Lake finished second and Beth Black of Minitonas placed third. On Sunday, Suchoplas won first and second place and Erin Schullman of Benito finished third. Lexi Young was the two-day high point winner.

Ronnie Prekaski, Lintlaw; Abby Black, Minitonas; Carmi Hrabarchuk, Benito and Jackie Ripa, Canora were the other riders in the senior category.
