Kelvington 4-H Beef Club holds annual awards night

The Kelvington 4-H Beef Club held its awards night on June 27, which began with a steak supper with members, their parents, buyers and sponsors. The club recognized the accomplishments of its members and the support received from sponsors and buyers.

            The Kelvington 4-H Beef Club held its awards night on June 27, which began with a steak supper with members, their parents, buyers and sponsors.

The club recognized the accomplishments of its members and the support received from sponsors and buyers.

            Morgan Sutter received the junior heifer grooming, showmanship, judging and book sponsored by Crop Production Services. Sutter also received an award for reserve grooming, sponsored by Stan and Berma Elmy; reserve showmanship, sponsored by Bruce Brownlee-Sprucelane Acres Ltd; grand champion heifer, sponsored by Roger and Sherry Anderson-4A Stock Farms, and for best Angus, sponsored by Doug Anderson Memorial. She also tied for second place for grand aggregate with Shandra Moxham, which is an award that was sponsored by Pattison Agriculture.

             Blake Zagrodney received an award for medium fed calf, junior test, judging and book sponsored by Kelly Swartz of Royal LePage, Carlton and Olivia Stephanyshen. Kendra Ewen, Tarynn Sutter and Amber Spray each received prizes for Cloverbud grooming, showmanship, test, book and conformation, sponsored by Richard and Veronica Choquette of Churchview Acres, Kelvington Lionelles and Humboldt Co-op.

            Tarynn Sutter received an award for reserve champion heifer, sponsored by Joe and Roseanne Denomie.

            Bradley Elmy received the intermediate grooming, showmanship, fed calf, test and book award sponsored by Richardson Pioneer and Richard and Mindy Niezgoda. Elmy also received prizes and awards for overall grooming, sponsored by Dwayne and Vivian Juve.

            Kelsey Elmy received the senior showmanship and grooming, an award which was presented by Brian Geck and sponsored by Centra Realty Group and Darrell and Stacey Perron. Kelsey also received prizes and awards for senior test, judging and book, sponsored by Michael and Rachel Hilbig of Stoney Creek Farms; overall showmanship, sponsored by Accent Credit Union; reserve fed calf, sponsored by David and Christine Zagrodney of Zag Consulting, and most marks combined in judging, books and test, sponsored by Ken Elmy Memorial. Elmy also received awards for best Simmental, sponsored by M+T Trucking and Double V Trucking, and grand aggregate, sponsored by East Central Co-op.

            Sheena Moxham received the senior heifer award from Tanice and Dana Balaski, which was sponsored by Eugene and Carrie Balaski. Moxham also received a gift for a member who persevered through a hardship, sponsored by Brent and Crystal Elmy.

           

Accomplishments of 4-H club members recognized with awards night

 

Muriel Geck and Doreen Babecy presented the Mike and Norman award for grand champion fed calf to Shandra Moxham. Moxham also received an award for senior fed calf, sponsored by Monty Ewen Farms; home grown fed calf, sponsored by Gordan and Georgina Ake of 3J Simmental.

Moxham tied for second place with Morgan Sutter for grand aggregate, sponsored by Pattison Agriculture.

            Chelsey Moxham, Kelsey Elmy and Morgan Sutter received the team grooming competition, sponsored by Open Prairie Transport.

            Shen Perron received an award from Dana Balaski for most improved member.  She also received an award from Morris Kiland for best Charolais.

            Brent Elmy, club leader, was presented with a gift of thanks for hard work and dedication from the club by Shandra and Sheena Moxham.
