Lintlaw playground becoming a reality

The Lintlaw Playground Committee reported that it’s at the halfway point of making the new playground equipment area a reality.

The Lintlaw Playground Committee reported that it’s at the halfway point of making the new playground equipment area a reality.

The idea of replacing the playground committee came out of discussions by a number of concerned young families, many of whom were moving back to Lintlaw. A committee was formed in June 2015 to devise and spearhead a plan.

"The old school had a set of equipment that did not meet safety standards. The fundraising kicked off in June and the committee is a little over halfway to meeting our goal," said Alicia Guy, president of the playground committee. "The playground will consist of swings, slides, monkey bars, a climbing frame and tunnels, and will be located north of the village on the campgrounds site. The ground breaking is scheduled to take place this spring. We will be supplying all the work to assemble the playground under the direction and supervision of a main contractor. It has been long overdue and the community is looking forward to creating something for everyone to enjoy."

Committee members include: Lisa Brownlee, Ashley Anderson, Kristen Shirley, Laurie Hart, Lynn Verbeek (vice-president), Kristen Rioch (treasurer) and Chelsey Kurytnik (secretary).
