Preeceville High School students acknowledged for achievements

Top academic and athlete students were acknowledged for their achievements at the Preeceville High School awards day on June 20.

Top academic and athlete students were acknowledged for their achievements at the Preeceville High School awards day on June 20.

            Eric Dodge, Darian Walker, Layne Englot, Sean Paligan, Sylvan Klebeck and Spencer King were presented with the Crossroads Credit Union recognition awards. Doreen Bochnuik made the presentation on behalf of the Credit Union.

Students from Grade 7 who received top academic awards were:  Chloe Chornomitz, art; Delana Goosen, English language arts (ELA); Eric Dodge, practical and applied art, math, science and social studies, and Trever Geistlinger, physical education.

Students from Grade 8 who received top academic awards were: Skylar German, math and ELA; Eli Kashuba, science and social studies; Sakashi Kumar, social studies and practical and applied art; Jillian Tonn, health; Dylan Wiwcharuk, physical education and Almina Kovcic, art.

Students from Grade 9 who received top academic awards were: Morgan Mitchell, ELA; Emily Prestie, math and art; Claire Giddings, science and social studies; Ryan Young, physical education; Morgan Mclean, health, and Agam Singh, practical and applied art.

Students from Grade 10 who received top academic awards were: Dana Chopty, ELA; Kelsey Daschuk, math, social studies, wellness and Art; Jake Huska, science; Kristan Javelona, CREX (career work experience) and Jasmine Knihniski, practical and applied art.

Students from Grade 11 who received top academic awards were: Brie Gardner, ELA and practical and applied art; Stephanie Johnson, math and social studies; Sylvan Klebeck, science; Brandon Dyky, physical education; Jesse Antonichuk, CREX, and Liezel Morales, visual arts.

The entire Student Representative Council was acknowledged.

Cross-country running awards went to: Rachel Pankratz, team builder award; Isaiah Maier, most dedicated and determined, and Eli Kashuba, most dedicated. Juniors to received awards were: Zachary Sorgen dedicated and determined; and Alex Neilson, most improved.

Football awards went to: Sean Paligan, MVP offence; Dreyton Paul, MVP defense; Dawson Paul, rookie of the year, and Hunter Chornomitz, most dedicated and determined.

Kalum Livingston of Norquay was acknowledged with the lineman award.

Junior girls volleyball awards were presented to Jillian Tonn and Emily Prestie, players of the year, and Makenna Petryshyn, the most improved player.

For junior boys basketball, the MVP award went to Agam Singh. Apaar Singh was named the rookie of the year; Ryan Young, most dedicated player, and Willen Paligan, the most improved player. 

 Hailee Delawski, Kaylee Walker and Alex Christopherson all shared the award for player of the year for senior girls basketball.

Senior boys basketball awards were presented to: Hunter Chornomitz, most dedicated; Spencer King, MVP; Kristan Javelona, rookie of the year, and Matthew Fenske, most improved.

For the junior mixed curling awards, the MVP player award went to Jillian Tonn.

The junior boys curling awards went to: Willem Paligan, most improved, and Erik Sandager, MVP. Mason Bilan received the sportsmanship award and Anthony Ford was named the most improved player.

Cody Hort received the MVP for junior badminton. Morgan Mitchell and Erik Sandager shared the sportsmanship award.

Sean Paligan received the senior badminton MVP award. Jasmine Knihniski was named the most improved and Rachel Pankratz received the award for sportsmanship.

The top male track-and-field athlete award was presented to Sean Paligan and the top female track-and-field athlete award was presented to Rachel Pankratz.

Sean Paligan and Kelsey Daschuk were presented the athlete-of-the-year award.
