The Preeceville Nursery School sponsored a shopping spree raffle with Marc Kovacs winning the main prize on December 15.

"The raffle winner had the option to pick the 90-minute shopping spree or a $250 cash prize," said Lori Newton, teacher. The shopping spree was held at the Preeceville Shop Easy store but Marc Kovacs selected the cash option. Brenda Solkulski won the second prize of a $100 gift card and Anne Olson won the third prize of a $50 gift card.

"Preeceville Nursery School has had a busy year," said Newton. “We currently have four students in the three-year-olds class with more scheduled to begin in January. In the four-year-old class there are eight students enrolled.”

The first day of classes was Sepetmber 13 with classes held every Tuesday and Thursday for both three-year and four-year-olds.

The school’s goal for the three-year-old class focuses on social interaction in a learning environment, sharing and respecting other children, said Newton. The four-year-old class still focuses on the social aspect but it incorporates a lot more hands-on learning like shapes, ABCs, numbers, colours and preparation for Kindergarten with rules and assigned jobs.

At the end of every year, the school provides a windup for the students where certificates are awarded noting the achievements of the students. Throughout the year students are also treated to an annual Christmas party with a visit from Santa Claus, a Valentine’s Day party and an Easter party. The children are also involved in a gym day to help increase and prompt physical fitness in a fun environment.

The executive and board members are Rhea Pole, president; Lorissa Petra, vice-president; Crystal Draper, secretary, and Shantelle Descalchuk, treasurer. Board members are Brittany Halkyard, Calla Erickson and Bobbi-Ann Danielson.
