The Preeceville Wildlife Club was very happy with the turnout considering the temperatures.

“We even had entries from as far away as Regina, Esterhazy, and Kelliher who took the drive to come try their hand at trout fishing,” stated Heather Gawrelitza, the club’s secretary.

There were a total of seven fish caught which were: four tiger trout, two rainbow trout, and one brook trout.

Jesse Walker from Preeceville was caught a 35.5 cm tiger trout, the first of the day, and won a pair of tickets to the Preeceville Wildlife banquet on April 6th. The winners of cash prizes were: John Masko from Preeceville with a rainbow trout measuring 45 cm to win first place and Mervin Blender from Sturgis placed second and with his catch, a 44 cm tiger trout.

Prize sponsors for the event included: Home Hardware, Preeceville Agencies, Preeceville Archery, and Hooge’s Hooks.

Everyone who caught a fish got to pick a prize. There were five children at the event that were twelve and under and each one received an Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation mug and goodie bag. Tony Steciuk won the 50/50 draw and Shelby Cook won the prize for being in attendance.
