Sturgis played host to District play

The Sturgis Composite High School hosted the East Central District Athletic Association (ECDAA) finals for mixed junior curling at the Sturgis Curling rink from January 29 and 30.

The Sturgis Composite High School hosted the East Central District Athletic Association (ECDAA) finals for mixed junior curling at the Sturgis Curling rink from January 29 and 30.

            There were seven teams entered from Canora, Preeceville, Esterhazy, Saltcoats, Springside, Norquay and the host team Sturgis.

            Canora won the gold medal, Sturgis won silver and Esterhazy won the bronze.

            Sturgis beat Canora in the first game then had to play again as it was a double knockout and the team lost that match.

            Preeceville defeated Springside on Friday in its first game. The team lost against Canora and then won against Saltcoats. On Saturday Preeceville played Sturgis and lost that game.
