The Sturgis Sports and Rodeo committee has been busy planning events and activities for its third annual sports day on June 23 and June 24.

"Events and activities scheduled will be kicked off on Saturday with an outdoor trade show followed by a cabaret in the evening," said Amanda Masley, committee member.

Entertainment will be held at the mini stage on the grounds.

The gymkhana events, sponsored by the Etomaimie Riders Club and the chariot and chuckwagon races, sponsored by the Eastern Professional Chuckwagon and Chariots Association, are scheduled for both days.

Ranch Rodeo from Yorkton will be hosting a three-hour show of bull, horse and sheep riding and roping.

Sunday will feature a cowboy church service followed by a car, truck and motorcycle show and shine and a pancake breakfast.

“The event has sparked renewed interest in the community’s sportsgrounds,” said Masley. "It takes numerous volunteers to put on such a big event and we are encouraging individuals to come out and support our event," she concluded.

Executive committee members for the sports and rodeo committee are, Randy Sommerville, president; Amanda Masley, secretary/treasurer and Greg Beatty, vice-president.
