The Sturgis branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation hosted its annual antler measuring event at the Sturgis Kin Hut on December 13.

Blair Mitchell officially measured the antlers accompanied by Bert Suknasky.

Antlers measured included: one moose, five elk, four bear, one mule deer and 10 white-tailed deer.

"We had good turnout with some potential record-breaking antlers," said Rob Wilcott, president of the Sturgis branch. The club had a quiet year, he said, adding that the group’s annual awards event is scheduled for February 8.

The club received another five-year extension from the federal government to operate the gun range. “This gun range is a shared site with the Preeceville Wildlife branch,” said Wilcott.

The executive for the new year are: Wilcott as president; Russell Walker, membership chairperson; Daniel Wasylenchuk, secretary and treasurer; Kelly Masley, awards chairperson, and Russell Walker and Ashten Langille, fundraiser chairpersons. Directors are: Allen Carlson, Tom Babchishin, Mervin Blender, Terry Hancock, Bert Suknasky, Chris Walker, Myles Zawislak and Clint Zubko.
