Town of Preeceville councillor Mark Bourassa officially resigned from his position on council effective December 11, creating the possible need for a byelection.

The Town of Preeceville residents could possibly be going back to the polls if another byelection is required.

The Town of Preeceville is saddened to report that councillor Mark Bourassa has resigned from his position on council, stated the Town of Preeceville website.

Bourassa has been a tremendous asset to the town and will be missed in his role as a community leader. He was a member of council for seven years, being first elected in 2012. Bourassa was instrumental in saving the ambulance services in the Town of Preeceville a few years back and his knowledge, skills and passion for the town of Preeceville are second to none, stated Council and staff at the Town of Preeceville administration office.

Nominations for the vacancy will be accepted from January 23 until 4 p.m. on February 12. If necessary, the byelection will be held on March 18.
