The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 30 calls during the week of October 1 to October 7, some of which included: one traffic accident, seven traffic offences, one impaired operation, 11 other provincial statutes, one municipal bylaw, one other federal statute, one sexual offence, three harassments/threats, one mischief and three other incidents.

Preeceville emergency

On October 1, Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted Preeceville Ambulance Service in Preeceville for a medical emergency.

Canora collision

A two-vehicle collision on First Street West in Canora was reported to Canora/Sturgis RCMP on October 3. A vehicle failed to yield and struck an oncoming vehicle. There were no injuries.

Uncivil threats

Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on October 3 of threats being made over Facebook in the Preeceville area. The threats were made in relation to an ongoing civil matter. 

911 misuse

On October 3, an intoxicated female from Canora called 911 complaining about her dog. Police attended her residence and found her sleeping soundly on the couch. There was no emergency and the woman was given a verbal warning for misusing the 911 emergency service.

Bat threat

Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a male in distress on October 5 at a residence outside Canora. Police made contact with the male who threatened to attack police with a bat. Police were able to calm down the male and he was arrested without incident.

Shady meeting

On October 6, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that two vehicles stopped on the side of a rural road south of Canora and made a suspicious exchange.

Multiple thefts

Canora/Sturgis RCMP are looking for the public's assistance with the follow crime. On or about the September 17, a residence in the RM of Keys was broken into and had a riding lawn mower, snow blower, fan forge, two hand grinders and several other hand tools stolen from the residence and shed. The same residence had more items stolen on or about October 3. Two vehicles were stolen; one being an older style Ford F-150 and the other a Mercury Marquis automobile

Tadmore theft

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP are looking for the public's assistance with the follow crime. On or about the September 21, two construction vehicles belonging to the ministry of highways were broken into near the bridge on the Tadmore westbound grid. Items that were taken from the two vehicles include: multiple LED lights, a fire extinguisher, and a two-way radio. The suspect(s) were believed to have been driving a dual wheeled pickup truck.
