The Mens’ Field Lacrosse National Championships took place in Saskatoon September 1-3, and included a number of local boys who played for Saskatchewan teams, said a parent.

Players on the U-15 team included: Durban Hleboff of Canora, goalie; William Hauber of Canora, defence; Peyton Shewchuk of Invermay, defence; Seth Rayner of Sturgis, attack; Carter Masley and Zane Bayer of Sturgis and Shelby Wallin of Invermay, midfielders.

Bo Babiuk of Sturgis was an attacker on the Saskatchewan U-18 team.

In addition to Saskatchewan, the teams participating in the tournament were from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario.

On the first day the Saskatchewan teams played against B.C. and Manitoba. The all-star game was played on September 2.

William Hauber of Canora and Seth Rayner of Sturgis, were chosen to play on the all-star U-15 team.

It was a difficult weekend for both Saskatchewan teams, game wise, but a fantastic opportunity to meet new opponents and see some of Canada’s finest young field lacrosse athletes, the parent said.
