Preeceville/Invermay team wins Sturgis volleyball tournament

The Preeceville/Invermay senior girls volleyball team kick-started its season by winning the Sturgis/Norquay senior girls volleyball home tournament at the Sturgis Composite School on September 7 and 8.

The Preeceville/Invermay senior girls volleyball team kick-started its season by winning the Sturgis/Norquay senior girls volleyball home tournament at the Sturgis Composite School on September 7 and 8.

There were six teams entered in the tournament, including: Sturgis/Norquay, the host team, and Preeceville/Invermay, Canora, Kamsack, Ituna and Leroy.

Ituna took second place and Leroy won third place.

Members of the host Sturgis/Norquay team are: Mikayla Gregory, Emily Livingstone, Jillian Tonn, Kerri Kowch, Kyla Tomas, Haley Griffith, Shanae Olson, Ella Foster, Eloisa Vicente, Tory Reynolds, Jewel Howard and Kara Pasiechnik.

The coaches are Melissa Johnson and Colleen Robinson.

Preeceville defeated Sturgis in its first game and followed it by defeating Canora and splitting a pair of games with Ituna.

On Saturday, Preeceville defeated Kamsack, and split two games with Leroy in round robin match-ups. In the semifinal action Preeceville defeated Leroy and in the finals defeated Ituna.

Members of the Preeceville/Invermay team are: AJ Juaneza, Mikayla Babichuk, Kelsey Daschuk, Angelina Sorgen, Katelyn Rioch, Morgan Mclean, Emily Prestie, Morgan Mitchell, Sydney Fey, Natasha Fey, Kirsten Murray and Ellyshia Enge.

The coaches are Cary Franklin and Arlene Prestie.

Preeceville's next tournament action is a home tournament on September 15.
