There were 15 rinks entered in the Preeceville seniors bonspiel held during the week of January 8 to 11.  The Lou Roste and Ralph Ager teams tied for first place.

Team members on the Roste rink were: Phil Murrin, Minnie Zimmer and Darwin Chalupiak. The Ager rink team members were: Lynn Ager, Don Kurulak and Darcy Rediger.

There was a three-way tie for third place between the Dale Zubko rink of Preeceville and Ron Hoehn's and Vern Schick's rinks, each of Canora. Team members on the Dale Zubko rink were: Darryl Hanson, Blaine Medlang and Joanne Boechler. Team members on the Hoehn rink were: Arnold Makowski, Bob Bell and Lawrence Everitt. Team members on the Schick rink were: Darrell and Vickie Stevenson and Judy Schick.

Other participating teams that were entered in the daytime curling included Larry Dahl, George Grant, Ted Kreklewetz, Bob Lumley and Sharon Naclia all of Norquay; Bill Forman and Bob Probe, both of Canora; Bob Lebo, Joe Luciw, and Dale Zubko all of Preeceville.

The 15 team entry equalled the most rinks ever entered in the Preeceville senior bonspiel stated Joe Yacyshyn, organizer.

"All local curlers were involved in various capacities during the four-day bonspiel," said Yacyshyn. Yacyshyn was responsible for taking entries and as draw master. Agnes Dubelt collected the fees and distributed the prize monies. Mary Pasiechnik and Stella Gulka were responsible for looking after the kitchen. Ralph Ager organized the bar, Sheldon Luciw was the caretaker and Bob Lebo organized the 50/50 and the draw to the button competition.

"Joe Luciw demonstrated his curling skills by winning first in the draw to the button individual competition. There were several other players who drew to the four-foot without any sweeping help. The Ron Hoehn team and the Joe Yacyshyn teams scored 12 points each in the team draw. Peter Wiwchar, Phil Murrin, Mary Pasiechnik and Agnes Dubelt were the 50/50 draw winners.”

"Supporters of the bonspiel contributed large pots of soup and pies. The club is grateful for those kinds of contributions. In addition, some individuals who did not participate took time out of their busy lives to help out. It was particularly satisfying to see some of the younger seniors becoming involved in the bonspiel," said Yacyshyn.

Regular curling for any age group continues every Monday afternoon with drop-ins always welcome.
