Sturgis Composite students bring home medals from Districts

Three junior badminton players who represented the Sturgis Composite School all brought home bronze medals from district play in Yorkton on May 7.

Three junior badminton players who represented the Sturgis Composite School all brought home bronze medals from district play in Yorkton on May 7.

The three players who traveled to Yorkton for junior badminton district play were: Paige Hansen, Daniell Mirva and Keannu Albarracin, along with Tara Romanchuk, coach.

"Paige Hansen and Daniell Mirva played mixed doubles and Keannu Albarracin played boys singles," said Romanchuk.

These three players represented Sturgis Composite at the Yorkton Regional. Both played strong in the round robin, placing second in their pools.  They went into playoffs and had to play against the first place team in the other pool. Both took a loss and then played for bronze. Albarracin played against a player from Melville. He won the game in two sets, Romanchuk said.

Paige Hansen and Daniell Mirva played against Yorkton Regional High School and won the game in two sets.
